The Stoneman Murders

According to the story 'The Stoneman Murders' revolves around the city of Mumbai, where serial killings are taking place at a rapid pace. The serial killer, who has been named 'Stoneman' by the media - due to the way he kills people, has already claimed his fifth victim. Still, the case seems to be of little interest to Mumbai Police force. However, there is one person in, rather out of, the police who deems it to be of great importance - suspended sub-inspector Sanjay Shelar (Kay Kay Menon). To him, the killer presents an opportunity to come back into the police force.
Stoneman is the movie full of suspense and the suspense continues after the end of the movie as well. Kay Kay Menon with his strong, wry unsmiling presence brings grit to the feeble drama. Arbaaz is getting better with every film. Rukhsar was extremely hot with her bare back.

Star Cast: Kay Kay Menon, Arbaaz Khan, Vikram Gokhale, Rukhsar, Virendra Saxena
Director: Manish Gupta

Slumdog Millionaire

According to the story, two cops played by Irrfan Khan and Saurabh Shukla question a young Jamal for cheating in the Indian version of quiz show 'Who wants to be a Millionaire'. They think that a slum dweller cannot answer the quiz. But, Danny takes due note of Jamal's travel from a slum to that of the Rs two million quiz winner! Significantly, Jamal wins even in the wake of the losing his mother and childhood sweetheart Latika during this long journey. He has been optimistic though unlike his brother Salim.
The movie is set in the backdrop of India's most popular metropolis Mumbai. These three protagonists -- Jamal Malik played by Dev Patel, Salim Malik played by Madhur Mittal and Latika played by Frieda Pinto - move their ways. While Jamal, who plunges into no-man's land, grows straight, Salim as Gunmaster trusts only his Colt 45, and joins Mahesh Manjrekar's gang. Latika, an orphan, is no exception; she faces the brothels and lastly a gang. This is another matter that she continues her love for Jamal. Incidentally, Jamal travels a long way from a slum to the glamorous hot seat of the Quiz Show. He faces a problem there too inasmuch as an arrogant quizmaster played by Anil Kapoor wonders how a boy selling tea can know all the answers on `My Show'. Anil doesn't reconcile to the tea seller winning Rs 20 million as prize money. He doesn't trust the `darshan do ghanshyam ' hymn that Jamal believes in.
The movie keeps you hooked from the beginning to the end. There is not a single instance where the story lulls, leaving you room to recline on your seats. And you go with the flow. You pine for the characters and their fates. You smile with them. Dance with them and even weep with them!
Carved beautifully by Danny Boyle and screenplay writer Simon Beaufoy from Vikas Swarup's novel Q & A, the movie is beautiful poem etched in squalor and poverty. It stinks of both joy and stench. Love and sorrow. Hope and deceit.
A R Rahman's hip-hop score meanders blissfully throughout the movie like little Jamal and his brother across the streets. The music blends so seamlessly into the storyline that 'Jai Ho' rings in your mind even hours after watching the movie.

Star Cast: Farhan Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Madhur Mittal, Imran Hasnee, Mahesh Manjrekar

Director: Danny Boyle

Luck by chance

The story is about two characters. On one hand there is Sona (Konkona) who comes with loads of dreams to make it big in the film industry and would not hesitate to compromise to any extent to reach her goal and is a rather naïve person in a way. On the other, there is Vikram (Farhan) who lets go of a comfortable lifestyle in Delhi just to pursue his dream but then he is smart enough to know the rules of the game and also to play the right card at the right time. As expected, both Vikram and Sona chance upon each other and love blooms. All this apart, there is the famous producer Rommy Rolly (Rishi) who believes in making movies only with superstars and has his own share of sentiments. Then there is Nina (Dimple), the ravishing beauty of the yesteryears who is keen on making her daughter Nikki (Isha) the queen of today. Rolly begins a flick with Nikki and this also has Zafar Khan (Hrithik), the superstar as the hero. Things take a change when Zafar decides to pull back out of the project leaving Rolly in the lurch. It is here that Rolly decides to break his beliefs and go for a new star cast and Vikram comes into the picture. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Musical score by Shankar-Ehasan-Loy isn’t like their previous hit of ‘Rock On’. Only couple of songs does favors to audiences with best presentation. Background score is off mediocre and Carlos Catalan’s cinematography is top-notching with different shades and colors according to situations. Javed Akhtar’s dialogues are spellbinding. Debutant Zoya Akhtar lets us go through an interesting screenplay in the first half. However, she get stuck in moving the script in latter half. Preferably, she could’ve trimmed few portions in the second half. However, an unexpected climax erases the flawed parts from our memories.
As a whole, Luck By is a film worth watching with more enjoyable parts.

Star Cast: Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Isha Sharvani, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, Aly Khan, Sheeba Chaddha

Mere Khwabo Mein Jo Aaye

Sad housewife Maya ( Raima) wants to break free. Boorish husband ( Arbaaz) growls at her, treating her worse than a house-maid. Like all sensible wives, she switches off, retreating into the arms of good-looking fantasy-figure Jai (Randeep). And then, just when Maya's near-forgotten talent as a warbler is about to rescue her, her ogre-ish spouse gets in the way.

Raima is a talented actor, but she should channelize her energies on better scripts and roles. Randeep is unintentionally funny. Arbaaz is wasted. Amongst supporting actors, only Neil Bhoopalam stands out. Ashwini Kalsekar, Anjan Srivastava and Suhasini Mulay are wasted.

Movie Review: Mere Khwabo Mein Jo Aaye;
Star Cast: Arbaaz Khan, Raima Sen, Randeep Hooda and Ashwini Kalsekar; Director: Madhureeta Anand;

Dev D

Dev Singh(Abhay Deol) is the son of a millionaire who has been packed off to London for being a nuisance in his father's life. While there, he is in touch with his childhood sweetheart Paro, daughter of his father's manager.
How deep the relationship may have been is never exactly known. However it is made evident that Dev is someone who goes for the skin. So when he receives a nude picture of Paro, he drops everything and returns to Chandigarh.
Paro (Mahi Gill) is a fiery and intelligent girl – she has topped all the examinations we are told. So she doesn't mind going up to a local bloke and asking him the keys to his room 'because my Dev is in town'.
On not getting the room, she carries a huge mattress to the middle of a sugarcane field and pinning her man onto it.

Deol is perfectly cast here, and the actor (who conceptualized the film) drips coolth and 'typical Indian' male chauvinism in equal measure. The attitude and arrogance of the spoilt Punjabi lad is brought out with astounding realism, and once again the courageous young actor packs a solid punch.

Movie Review: Dev D;
Star Cast: Abhay Deol, Mahi Gill and introducing Kalki Koechlin;
Director: Anurag Kashyap;
Rating: ***.

Victory

Vijay ( Hurman ), a cricketer from small-town Rajasthan is so good that he should, by rights, have been in the Indian team. But, and this is a story we know well, he doesn't even get a look-in on the Ranji.
`Victory' is about Vijay's rise-fall-rise, the heady feeling of success, and the perils of untrammeled avarice. A greedy agent ( Gulshan) gets his claws into the rising star, who slides down the slippery slope of here-now-gone-the-next-instant-fame, forgetting those who kept him grounded, `deshbhakt' dad ( Anupam), and best bud ( Amrita).
From the many cricketers that make an appearance, its Harbhajan Singh and Brett Lee that make most impact. Navjot Singh Sidhu as a commentator is funny.

Star Cast:Hurman Baweja, Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, Gulshan Grover
Director: Ajitpal Mangat

Raaz The Mystery Continues

The Mystery Continues is not a sequel to Raaz. It does not share any common grounds with the latter.
It revolves around a brooding artist Prithvi (Emraan Hashmi) who experiences mysterious and distressing visions about Nandita (Kangana Ranaut) who plays a woman he has never met, while he paints on his canvas. Intrigued by these visions, Prithvi tries to track her down and warns her that these are not merely paintings of her, but accidents that are waiting to happen sometime soon. Initially, Nandita refuses to believe him and dismisses him, taking him to be a stalker. However, the striking resemblance between Prithvi`s paintings and the near-death incidents in her life make her realise that these things are hard to ignore. Then happens a twist, one of Prithvi`s paintings reveals her to be dead and the only way she can change her fate is to unravel this mystery with his help, at the risk of alienating herself from her boyfriend, Yash (Adhyayan Suman). The trouble doesn’t end here as Yash refuses to believe in Prithvi`s forewarnings. It is on Nandita, whether she wants to risk her love or life to unravel this mystery.

Emraan is just perfect for the part and his expressions speak a lot.Kangana enacts her part well and succeeds in getting your sympathy. Adhyayan shows remarkable improvement as an actor from his debut film.

Star Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman;
Director: Mohit Suri;
